Support Candy – Emergency appendix operation

Two weeks ago we had to rush Candy, one of our teenage girls, to hospital for an emergency operation to remove her appendix. Sound familiar? Almost…

Below is the photograph we posted just over a month ago where she visited Alex in hospital for the same procedure.

We are so very fortunate to have her back at the house and recovering well however we urgently need your support to fund the operation.

DONATE NOW

Despite our wonderful doctors agreeing to complete the operation free of charge to show their support to Mision Mexico, medical costs in Mexico are high, and the emergency has left us with USD $1400 (£1050) worth of medical bills to pay.
If you have some spare change could you head to the My Donate page we have set up, which you can visit through the ‘Donate Now’ button below.
Rifle through the handbag, check between the couch cushions, up-end that spare change drawer and please donate. We are grateful for anything that you may be able to give at this time and welcome any well wishes for Candy on the page too if you would like to share them!!

Gracias from everyone at Mision Mexico!

Support the Chido Project

This month Mision Mexico proudly announced our fantastic partnership with the Chido Project, a 5 month art project which uses Street Art as a tool for empowerment and expression for disadvantaged children.

As well as working with our children at Mision Mexico, we will be inviting a number of children from the local beach community to enrol in the project, who currently have no access to school or creative workshops.

chido-project-mision-mexico-2

The Chido team will be educating the children in street art history, holding weekly practical workshops, and are putting plans in place to get the children out into their local surrounding areas to paint murals that the whole community can enjoy. Our eldest children will also be given the opportunity to prepare a portfolio for transfer, personal use or career development.

Your support can help give our children the means to express themselves, learn new skills and release their creativity!

Please contact events@lovelifehope.com if you would like to become a project sponsor and help secure the art supplies and materials needed. Or make a small donation by clicking the link below and receive a reward from the Chido team.

Your support in spreading the word in your own communities to aid the project would mean a lot.

Popup painting in London’s East End

On 22 June Mision Mexico is partnering with Popup Painting to bring a little bit of Mexican art to London’s East End, with you staring as the artist!

With a wine glass in one hand, and a paintbrush in the other, follow along as our artist facilitator guides you to recreate one of Frida Kahlo’s world famous paintings. You will leave with your creativity unleashed and your own piece of artwork under your arm, no experience necessary.

Your evening will include all art supplies (including paint, aprons and canvas), a Mexican themed playlist, artist facilitation and a chance to meet our London amigos. One free drink is included in the price of your ticketwith additional drinks available for purchase at the bar.

A percentage of all tickets sales will be donated to Mision Mexico’s Education Program which ensures all of our children attend school and have the opportunity to get an education, a critical step in ensuring the cycle of poverty is broken and the children have the chance to create a future for themselves.

Please, grab your friends and come join us for a night full of Mexican colour and culture!

El Día Del Niño celebrated in Glasgow

Mexican Family Fun Day

Saturday 25 April 2015, 1-4pm at the Old Barn, Glasgow

Men at work

What are we celebrating?

A fabulous family fun day to raise funds for Mision Mexico celebrating Children’s Day, ‘El Día Del Niño’.

Why are we celebrating El Día Del Niño?

This is a national holiday in Mexico and is celebrated as a tribute to children in Mexico on April 30.

Children’s Day has been celebrated annually in Mexico since 1925. Children are recognized as an important part of society so the day focuses on the importance of loving, accepting and appreciating children.

How are we celebrating El Día Del Niño?

We’ll be celebrating Children’s Day in Glasgow with picnics on the lawn (BYO), delicious home baking, magic shows, balloon modelling, face painting, nail art, music and a bit of Mexican fun thrown in too!

By joining our party in Glasgow you’ll be celebrating the children in your lives as well as those in Mision Mexico.

The sun came out and we raised £1700 for our Youth Transition Program!

A HUGE thank you to all everyone who turned up to enjoy the afternoon as well as our sponsors and volunteers.

The event pics are here for you to enjoy.

Shopping online = donating to us for FREE!

xmas-banner-728x90-light_5559

I’s almost unbelievable, but we’ve found a way you can shop online and get the best price from 3,600 retailers, while donating money to Misión México at no extra cost.

It does sound like there’s a catch, but there’s not.

Give as you Live is a price comparison website, which means when you make a purchase through them online, they make a commission off the retailer for their services. Instead of pocketing this fee like almost all websites, they pass at least 50% of this sum onto the charity of the customers choice. Amazing.

All you have to do is sign up here and start shopping at over 3,600 stores including Amazon, Ebay, John Lewis, Waterstones and Marks and Spencers. When you purchase a product you’ll get the opportunity to select Misión México as your chosen charity!

AND if you sign up via this link they will donate £5 for every referral. It’s that easy.

So far, Give as you Live has helped raise over five million pounds for over 4,500 UK charities. That’s impressive.

So help yourselves to these great online deals this Christmas and you can help us in the process.

Please note, almost all retailers are based in the UK.

We wish you some happy and successful online shopping!
